LANDesk Management Suite
Complete hardware & software management. Single console simplicity.
LANDesk Managment Suite provides the tools needed to manage and protect Windows, Macintosh, and Linux network systems, plus providing advanced support and deployment functionality.

Management Suite's core functionality provides for Inventory and basic management of network devices, including discovery and remote deployment of the LANDesk agent software.

The enhanced Security and Patch Manager tool enables scanning managed devices for many prevalent types of security risks and exposures, while the Remote Control tool allows support personnel to provide assistance to end users and diagnose and resolve system problems without costly on-site visits. Software Distribution provides all the tools necessary to install, maintain, and monitor applications in the environment. Lastly, Operating System Deployment ("Imaging") allows technical managers to capture, distribute, and maintain standardized system configurations throughout their department.

LANDesk's Management Gateway is available exclusively with LANDesk Management Suite and gives users the ability to securely manage systems over an encrypted internet connection. The Management Gateway provides systems outside the perimeter firewall and at geographically distributed sites the ability to connect with the central LANDesk environment and report inventory and vulnerability assessments and obtain security and software updates. Management Gateway allows users to easily identify their computer assets, how they’re configured, and where they are on the network. All the gateway requires is an internet connection — no dedicated leased line or expensive VPN is required. Best of all, access to the Management Gateway is included with the Management Suite product, so there are no additional license costs.

If you are interested in learning more about the Management Gateway or setting up your managed systems to take advantage of its enhanced functionality, please contact us at landesk@vcu.edu and we will be happy to discuss the product with you in greater detail.

LANDesk 8.7 Security Suite Inventory Management
Inventory Management
Management Suite includes the inventory management capabilities to let you discover networked computing devices, automatically maintain detailed hardware and software inventories, gather and track custom data fields, monitor software usage to reduce licensing costs and maintain compliance, plan upgrades and maintenance and quickly respond to audits. A unified asset repository brings it all together, letting you turn raw data into pure business intelligence.

Advanced Vulnerability Detection
Standard, high-frequency and agentless vulnerability scanning detects antivirus, Operating System and application patch needs quickly. Custom scans define the specific conditions to be scanned for, while the threat analyzer easily identifies configuration risks.

LANDesk Security Suite content types include:
  • Antivirus
  • Blocked applications
  • Custom vulnerability definitions
  • Driver updates
  • LANDesk software updates
  • Security threats (system configuration risks and exposures, including firewall detection and configuration)
  • Software updates
  • Spyware
  • Vulnerabilities (known platform and application specific vulnerabilities)

Remediation Tools
Management Suite’s antispyware capabilities protect systems in real-time with access to a comprehensive database of known spyware, adware, Trojans, key-loggers, and other malware. Add application blocking, and security is solid.

Patch Management Tools
Management Suite’s extended patch management capabilities help assess Operating System and application patch needs, quickly research and prioritize patches and automate patch distribution and maintenance. Targeted Multicast technology speeds patch deployments to multiple targets while minimizing the bandwidth used to reduce total network traffic without dedicated hardware or router reconfiguration.

Remote Control
Remote control and problem resolution capabilities in Management Suite give users everything they need to reduce costs and the demands on help desk resources as well as to improve performance, security, and efficiency. Additionally, On-Demand Remote Control provides access securely over an encrypted internet connection, even without a LANDesk agent present on the supported system.

Software Distribution
A variety of features available in Management Suite make software distribution unbeatably efficient. Dynamically-allocated distribution points provide functional load balancing and fault tolerance for enterprise package distribution that eases the burden of distributing packages to users that move from location to location. LANDesk Targeted Multicast™ technology minimizes bandwidth consumption when distributing large packages to multiple users and without having to configure dedicated hardware or router reconfigurations. LANDesk Peer Download™ technology uses local subnet resources to access packages previously delivered to a subnet distribution point. Push- and policy-based distribution configurations provide greater deployment flexibility and minimize end-user impact during the installation process.

Operating System Deployment and Profile Migration
Easily migrate users and their profiles to new operating systems. Automatically deploy applications and quickly provision “bare-metal” machines without dedicated servers on each subset, boot disks, or custom network reconfiguration. Management Suite's OS deployment tools let users easily and efficiently perform OS deployments and organize OS configurations.
